“Reverence for others”
INTRODUCTION

Definition:
Reverence is to show extreme honor and respect for something or someone.

We do this for Christ. But our fewllow man/woman need that type of care too.

REVERENCE –
respect and compassion for the dignity and diversity of life.
Colossians 3:12-17
12Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

I. “REVERENCE”
A. Showing Humility and Compassion “helping”;
a.  God has shown his Grace to us as we should for others also.

b. Care for someone , compassion.

We must you the gifts God has given each one of us.
These gifts come to us from God,
and God calls us to remember that each person has gifts,
that each person is special in his eyes,
and that while we may have many blessing,
we no more deserve them than another person deserves
    not to have them.

By sharing our spiritual gifts with others we are building up the body of Christ, having reverence for others “humility and compassion.

God gave us what we have, we need to listen to him. Giving back what God has blessed us with.

B. God expects it from Us  “this time of year especially”;

         a. Look what God gave us, his only son, Jesus
         b. Have you cared for someone today? , Maybe you cant physically do something for that person . Talking maybe your gift, You could be bless with great finances.

      c. Visiting nursing homes is a great way to lift the spirits of others. Volunteering in the Activity area.
C. What if you were in need?

         a. . Bishop Fulton Sheen said this about humility
“Humility is not self contempt, but the truth about
ourselves coupled with a reverence for others.

To be humble is simply to remember that what we have is from God,
that our place is given to us from God, and to remember that others have a place with God, that Jesus died for them just as much as he died for us.
The way of Jesus that we are called to follow is the way that tells us to compare ourselves not to each other, but to God. And it is to remember that everyone belongs to a family,  the family of God,

We should humble ourselves and have reverence for our fellow man. How?
by obeying the golden rule of ” doing unto others as we would they should do unto us,”

         b.  Poem by Joyce Rupp;
I receive cards and letters from dear ones.
There are many who have no one to love them.
I sit down to a Christmas dinner, a table of abundance.
There are those who long for just a small portion of food and find none.

I feel love and goodness from those around me.
There are people terrorized by death squads and tortured in prison.
I open many gifts, most of which are not needed.
There are those who have no gifts to give or receive.

I move freely from home to home choosing whom I see or visit.
There are visually impaired, physically challenged, chronically ill person
    Who cannot move easily.
I am welcomed by friends, family and acquaintances.
There are persons who are mocked, ridiculed, disdained, or ignored
because of their race or religion.

I return to the security of my home.
There are countless homeless who have no dwelling place to which they
    can retune.

CONCLUSION
This IS the season for giving, don’t forget people less fortunate in your lives.
Remember we must Serve others.
Done
Must use our God given gifts, or risk loosing them!
This Christmas, will I recognize Gods’ presence in my world?
Therefore every Christian should have Reverence for others just as we do for Christ.

Pray for Reverence for others,  alter call…….
